This fear leads to even more stress as the deadline approaches, which makes them procrastinate even more. Ironically, this delay usually results in lower-quality work. When we rush to finish something at the last minute, we're more likely to make mistakes.

Perfectionism can slow you down by making you overthink things and have trouble letting others help. To be more productive, set time limits, focus on important tasks, and trust others to share the work.

Accepting imperfection can make you more creative and real. It helps you try new things and connect better with others. Take risks and see mistakes as chances to learn.

Be kind to yourself, Share responsibilities, Celebrate improvements, Aim for achievable goals, and Learn from failure.

Perfectionism can hurt our mental health and success. By accepting that we aren’t perfect and focusing on making progress, we can reach our goals and stay healthy. Nobody is perfect, and that’s okay.

Let’s understand what success is. When we talk about success, people often see it differently—some see it as achieving financial stability, others as gaining recognition or making a significant impact. Personally, I've measured success by the impact my projects have on users' lives, but these apply universally, whether you measure success in revenue, influence, or meaningful outcomes. Understanding what truly defines success in your projects can change how you approach and measure your accomplishments.

However, the truth is that time alone isn't the sole determinant of your project's success. What truly matters are several underlying factors:

- Relevance and Timeliness: Not many would buy a pager in the age of smartphones, nor would anyone purchase a VHS player in a time when streaming services dominate entertainment. Your project needs to solve a real pain point or enhance existing solutions to remain relevant and valuable.

- Your Message: Your choice of words can significantly influence how your product is perceived. While product development is crucial, equally important is crafting a compelling narrative. The right language and words have the power to transform an ordinary product into something that resonates deeply with your audience.

- Craftsmanship: Think about how well you do your work and how fast you can get it done. For example, one person might take three hours on a task, while someone else could finish it in two hours by working efficiently and paying attention to details. It's not merely about time invested but how that was executed.

As a product builder myself, these insights have been instrumental in my growth. The key takeaway is the way you approach is everything.

But that is not all. Just because I was willing to put myself out there, I reached people I never imagined I could reach. From sliding into DMs of the Notion co-founder to getting a reply from the founder of perplexity.

Closed Mouths don’t get fed

You can get far ahead in life by just asking for things. You miss every shot you don’t take. A lot of connections I built and work I got came from just asking people for things. Overcome the fear of rejection and send more cold DMs and emails. There is no downside to cold outreach.

Share what you are doing

You can find like-minded people and mentors by just sharing your work online. Doesn’t matter if you are building a funded startup or learning a new skill or maybe just talking about interests. Pick a platform where your “tribe” exists and start sharing your thoughts/learnings. You never know what piece of content you put out there will catch the attention of your next user/co-founder/investor/mentor/friend.

Be around people you aspire to be

The people that surround you determine your work and thoughts. This was the reason I joined twitter. I wanted to be around people passionate about making a difference in the world. Here’s the three types of people you should be around:

1. Those one step ahead of you – for guidance.

2. Those at the same level as you – for community.

3. Those one step behind you – for sharing with and inspiring.

Say yes to the most randomest things

Some of the most valuable connections I made came from the most random DMs or replies I received. When you are not super busy, I recommend trying as many things as you can.

You’ll be surprised how many life-changing ideas and people you come across were just random things you said yes to.

I’m currently wrapping up my first year of college. Lately, I’ve seen a lot of my friends hanging out all night, doing very little. Just yesterday, bored out of my mind, I went online, downloaded “The Art of Doing Science and Engineering,” and read the first few chapters for three straight hours. My only thought afterward was, "This is freaking amazing." I knew I had to apply what I learned.

So, today’s post is going to be a bit different. I want to share some notes and insights from my reading that really sparked my curiosity. It's all about mastering the art of science and engineering and learning how to learn.

Predicting future is hard.

As a good engineer, how do you know what will work and what will not? How do you know if a technology of yours will diffuse into society? Past can be a good guide, but not always. Here’s a small snippet from the book that was helpful -

In science if you know what you are doing you should not be doing it.

In engineering if you do not know what you are doing you should not be doing it.

So, how do you make good predictions? How do you make sure you’re working on something worthwhile? Just ask these three questions!

• What is possible? (science)

• What is likely to happen? (engineering)

• What is desirable to have happen? (societal factors)

Usually, something that hits all three of these is what I call a “revolutionary” technology.
If second differs from third, it can be mended to satisfy the third question, hence making it revolutionary.

Maybe this is why crypto, VR, etc technologies are still lagging behind? Maybe crypto and VR are possible but less desirable to go fully mainstream? If so, how can we “mend” these technologies in a way that they are more desirable for our society?

How do you get good at learning?

By learning the fundamentals of anything. As discussed earlier, half life of any knowledge is about 15-17 years, after which there is enough new stuff that the knowledge is considered obsolete. Our world is evolving really quickly and a lot of changes happen every single year.

In this fast moving world, the only way to keep up is to ace the fundamentals very, very well, and be able to start from 0 on any topic in that field and still being able to pick it up.

This is probably why computer systems engineers seem to always be really good at their craft, sometimes even better than average computer scientists! Because Systems engineering teaches them everything in the lowest level- the fundamentals of how computers work. This means learning systems engineering - bits and bytes and memory and CPU design might not be very cool to learn and very boring stuff, but that's the only information that's likely to remain constant in this rapidly evolving world.

Vision is the #1 decider for your success.

Richard Hamming included this amazing example in his book:

Imagine a drunken sailor who staggers from left to right with n independant random steps. The soldier will always, on average, end up sqrt(n) steps from the origin. But if there is a pretty girl in one direction, the sailors steps will tend to go in that direction and he will go a total distance that is proportional to n.

In a lifetime of many, many independent choices, small and large, a career with a vision will get you a distance proportional to n, while no vision will get you only the distance sqrt(n). In a sense, the main difference between those who go far and those who do not is some people have a vision and the others do not and therefore can only react to the current events as they happen.

So, the main task for your teenage years is to define, in detail, your vision of the future. (and smort will help you do that xD)

Conclusion

To conclude, I’ll ask you this simple question:

Should we model our predictions on the past? If yes, what would be a better assumption?

• humanity was made to progress, it happened linearly and naturally, it was supposed to be like that

• some humans came along and became inflection points (newton, pythagoras, alexander the great, hitler, plato, aristotle and countless others... maybe even you and me in the future?)

first belief makes sense - i mean, if we model everything as the lightbulb situation, every single human has some contribution to the world we live in- positive or negative. which means it is linear.

if k is the avg contribution by one human,

our progress is k*n (linear)

BUT

i would like to believe more in the second assumption. idk how to model it mathematically - but i like to believe I (and you!) can be an inflection point for humanity too.

“How many people does it take to turn on a light bulb?”

Oh yes, the answer is simple. One person. Me. I just flip the switch, which closes the circuit and turns on the light bulb. it’s not that deep. That’s it! right? right?….

So I was curious, and put out a tweet asking the same question.

We as a society don’t realize how everything that just ‘works’ today is a collective effort of humanity.

That light? yes, it just works when you flick the switch. But it’s not really you turning on the light, is it? You just made some way for electricity to reach it.

Someone else set up that system. maybe whoever made your building. Someone else got that electricity running in the first place. Someone else is actively working at a mine to get the fossil fuels that generates the electricity. Someone else made that glass, filament, copper, plastic needed for that bulb and system.
You get the point, it’s an endless loop. To turn on a lightbulb, it takes not only hundreds of thousands of people, but it is the collective effort of the entire humanity, past and present.

Society enables technology. Society drives these innovations. it’s not the other way forward.

I used to be on the “technological determinism” side - those who think that technology drives societal change. In a way, that’s also true. Technology is changing our social and economic structures. But those structures enabled technology in the first place.

It’s the classic chicken and egg problem. Technology only enables society to be better because society, collectively, enables technology to exist.

Is that too much tech-optimism? Yes. it is.

So, next time you turn on the lights, or sit in a car, think of how many people worked together to give you that perfect experience. We as society are doing a good job.

Sometimes, appreciating the things around us makes us understand them better. It makes us curious, question things. And that’s what I want you, as the reader to take away from this post.

If the goal is to do less work, isn't laziness good?

Bill Gates once said, "I choose a lazy person to do a hard job. Because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it." the truth is - every human is lazy in their own way.

The past

As we transitioned from hunter-gatherers to settled societies, we discovered the benefits of staying in one place and cultivating crops for sustenance. In order to make farming more efficient, we also invented tools. Running after animals wasn't cool and fun anymore. Because it wasn't easy.

The wheel, it was a genius invention. Made everything easier - from transportation to the movement of heavy objects. It allowed us to be lazy in our physical exertion and conserve energy. The invention of the wheel revolutionized the way we live and work. Laziness, in this sense, drove us to create efficient solutions that made our lives easier.

Every invention ever was made to make our life easier, in the process making us lazier.

Holistic laziness

Now with AI and robotics, creating a perfect human isn’t that far-fetched. Once we build that, the world will work on its own. There won’t be a concept of money, everyone can just do whatever they want. Most will sit at home watching movies and playing games. The world will be lazier. Got a problem? Ask your literal second brain to work on it and solve it.

There will be a few unsolved challenges and very few exceptional people working on solving those. But John Doe will have no reason to get up from his couch or remove his greasy hands from the Doritos packet.

We have been doing this to ourselves

The ironic part is that we have worked so hard to build whatever we have so far. And we’re definitely working super hard to make the future of AI. I think that's cool. The fact that we just ... do stuff?

We have not only been becoming physically lazy, but also, mentally lazy. But here's the catch - In order to be more mentally lazy, we solve more and more complex problems. Right now, we do that with our own intelligence and some computing. Maybe the entire point of trying to make an AGI is so that we can completely move these mentally challenging things (the only thing that had still been pushing us) to computers and neural networks.

This gets us back to Is dependence on technology a bad thing? where the basic conclusion was "Yes, but No.

The point is, don't be John Doe. But let's be lazy in our own ways so we can solve more problems and make our lives more easier. Not so that we can be done with everything and just do nothing. This is also probably why we keep hearing things like "you should have a purpose" and "set some life goals" - because without them, everyone will inevitably become a John Doe, sitting in dark rooms with an Apple AR headset on trying to do business in Minecraft.

Graffiti art emerged from the rebellious spirit of youth culture. It began in the 1970s as a form of underground expression (yes, not as a reason for vandalism but to express themselves) in the streets of New York City. Inspired by music, fashion, and a desire to challenge societal norms, young artists took to the streets, armed with spray cans and an insatiable urge to leave their mark. Graffiti became a voice for the unheard and a visual rebellion against a world that often felt oppressive. Graffiti in the past has been used to start wars and revolutions. Most Graffiti artists don’t even think of it as an art form they say

Beyond vandalism

graffiti is not an art it’s a reaction, it’s an impulse, a spark, it’s dynamic, it’s explosive, it's something like I have to do it right now. Usually done by youngsters who want to let the world know their name, the riskier the place it’s painted on, the more their name shines - people actually get recognized by such stunts. Street art is the heartbeat of the city, imagine yourself walking down a regular road and a road filled with countless graffiti and street art - you would definitely notice something different about the second one. The second road tells stories of countless youngsters trying to make a name for themselves without even uttering a single word. Graffiti artists use bold colors, detailed designs, and imaginative characters to breathe life into the urban environment

Graffiti art challenges our notions of what art should be. It defies traditional boundaries, blending elements of street culture, pop art, and contemporary influences. And guess what, google maps suggested a route that would take us longer than usual. The other friend, let's call him H, complained that I am "too dependent on google maps". Well, maybe I am. Perhaps we all are.

We ended up taking an auto rickshaw and I had no cash on me. I had money in my online wallet, but the rickshaw driver wouldn't accept that. So we were searching for people we could pay in cash. Once again, H complained that I was too dependent on technology.

Now that AI is booming, and we are supplementing much of our thoughts with a second brain (computer), here's a daunting thought: Is dependence on tech a bad thing for humanity and progress in general? Let's explore all perspectives.

We are getting weaker.

Tech has a lot of unintended consequences. We all know that. Nervousness, anxiety, loss of sleep, increased screen time, health issues, etc etc.

But also, where would we be, if suddenly all the tech would be stripped out? Would we be able to even survive?

Probably not, right? If my phone had switched off that day after I took a leap of faith by even deciding to go for the trip, I would literally be stuck.

SO, I'm too dependant on technology? When do we know that tech is not even reliable yet?

Why it might be a good thing

Here's the other side of the coin-

Every single innovation, be it technological or not, has made humans lazier in a way, have you ever thought about that?! It might not even be a bad thing! Let's take agriculture - humans needed to go out in the wild, hunt, and share the food with others. That was a lot of work. But then someone was like - what if we grow some plants and eat them? I guess it worked out, pretty well.

Transportation made us lazier but enabled us to connect the entire world together. We don't see people painting all the time now but it's easier than ever to capture memories or people and share them with the world through the internet.

Earlier, we used to use our bodies to their full potential. Then, we started using our minds. Now, there will be a point where our minds will reach their full potential (or maybe we are already there) and we will start relying on computing and artificial intelligence.

But these are just steps to a better future. Us doing less work ourselves or being able to remember fewer things shouldn't really matter if the entire knowledge of the world is one tap away. At the same time, we should always remember that our technology isn't perfect, and be able to use our own brains, paired with tech.

I keep saying this. Tech, or AI, won't replace you. But someone using AI will. That day, while we were walking, H just confessed that he is hesitant to try out this new technology, AI, he is still stuck on the old methods and is fine with growing slowly. He uses "growing my brain" as an excuse.

My point is, every single step towards a better future has made us dumber, lazier, and weaker.

But at the same time, smarter, faster, bigger, and better. as long as we know how to use it effectively. Growing knowledge isn't a bad thing. But know how to delegate some of the work to the smarter ones.

If that day I didn't use google maps, we might not have ended up at Juhu in the first place. At least we got there before the sunrise. If I wasn't dependent on online money, we wouldn't leave home for Juhu at all because we didn't have the cash.

The Wagner group which is a private paramilitary organization consisting of ex-convicts and mercenaries led by Yevgeny Prigozhin has begun a coup against Russia vowing to take down Putin from power.

This is the mainstream news which tells us nothing more than we don't know.

We'll dig deeper than that.

The Wagner group has always worked closely with the Russian military, its leader Yevgeny Prigozhin was often referred to as the right-hand man of Putin. So what happened?

Reportedly, The Wagner Group is working alongside the Russian army in the Ukraine War and they've accused Russia of attacking their men with missiles. In its response, the Wagner Group with its 25000 men turned against Russia and began rallying towards Moscow.

Putin:

The Wagner group even took control of two Russian cities and started moving towards the capital of Moscow with the intention to seize control of the city and overthrow Vladimir Putin.

Putin released a statement, Vowing to punish

'Armed uprising' by Wagner Milita while destroying all the bridges and blocking all roads reaching the capital.

The situation as of now is that Belarus’ President has successfully negotiated a peace agreement and Yevgeny Prigozhin has stopped their advance against Russia to avoid bloodshed. In exchange, Russia won't prosecute the Wagner Fighters.

its called newton’s third law of motion “every action in nature has an equal and opposite reaction" (yea just like karma but more science-y). Consider a balloon, when you go of the balloon it throws out gas and moves forward as a reaction, the gas inside the balloon is of high pressure and just like most of us, the gas wants to go from an area of high pressure to an area of low pressure. Now imagine that balloon is made up of a strong metal and boom there you have the Pressure tank. This tank basically stores a propellant (gas) at very high pressure. This was the principle behind the the cold gas thrusters

The simplest form of a rocket engine just stores some sort of propellant in a tank at high pressure. Then, open a valve, and let that high pressure flow out through the engine. This is the basis of cold gas thrusters.

As the name suggests, these engines run cold, meaning that there is no chemical reaction or combustion taking place. The simple expansion of a stored gas through the nozzle is what provides thrust in these types of engines.

biggest con of this system was that the pressure needed to be stored at a very high pressure, to achieve that pressure the walls of the tank needed to be thick to be able to withstand this pressure. This made the system very heavy and you know rocket engineers, they would sign a contract with the devil himself to reduce the overall weight. This led to the making of-

Pressure-Fed Engines

A monopropellant pressure-fed engine, or (for short) monoprop pressure-fed engine, is very similar to a cold gas thruster. The engine still has one tank filled with high-pressure inert gas. However, in addition, there is also a low-pressure tank with propellant which is actually connected to the engine and to a pressure chamber. The pressure inside the chamber is used to flow the propellent from the low pressure chamber to engine

They are a lot efficient than the CGT. Based on this a bipropellant pressure-fed engines were created.

Bipropellant pressure-fed engines, (or for short, biprop) pressure-fed engines, are basically the same as monoprop engines. The difference is, as the name already suggests, a pair of both fuel and pressurant tanks. One set stores the fuel, while the other one stores the oxidizer.

the fuel in one tank reacts with the oxidizer from the second tank at very high pressure in the main combustion chamber. The oxidizer is a source of oxygen that is used for burning of the fuel.

To improve even further we needed to have even higher pressure and increasing it pressure tank wasn’t an option anymore (to maintain the perfect weight). This is where ‘pumps’ come into play. They are attached to the low pressure tanks to increase the pressure without touching the pressure tank.

Pumps require a lot of power to operate like the one’s in RD-170 required about 230,000 horsepower (about 23,000 horses) and to overcome this the idea they came up with is incredible

Open Cycle (Gas Generator)

The system looks similar to the biprop but here the main difference is the turbine. The pumps are connected to a single turbine. A small amount of oxidizer and fuel are made to react in a new chamber called gas generator, the gas from here is made to rotate the turbine which in turns makes the pump work

the gas from the turbine is then just thrown out in the form of soot- a black residue left after the burning of the fuel. This soot is not good for the engine, it gets in places and its not supposed to be and makes the machine less efficient

To not let this happen they created a -

Closed (Staged Combustion) Engine Cycle

The closed, or staged-combustion, cycle is a more highly developed approach to try to make use of the combustion products that are dumped overboard on the open cycle.

here instead of the some of fuel and the oxidizer reacting, they either have all of the fuel or the oxidizer passing through the gas generator now called the ‘preburner’. The exhaust pipe is connected back into the combustion chamber. Being either fuel or oxidizer, it has two types-

here the whole oxidizer and a part of fuel is made to pass through the turbine and is made to react in the preburner. The oxidizer changes its state from liquid to gas in this process to be able to make the turbine rotate

the alternative to the oxygen-rich cycle, the fuel-rich cycle. In this case, where in general the relationship between the oxidizer and the fuel is reversed from what we looked at previously. In this case, all of the fuel passes through the preburner, and only a minimal amount of oxygen passes through the preburner.

But we are not stopping here yet, what if I say there is an engine that basically combines every engine mentioned above ?There is one combustion cycle that combines the benefits of both fuel-rich and oxygen-rich cycles, which also combines some of the downsides of each of those – but one specific upside makes it well worth pursuing.

Full-Flow Staged Combustion Engine Cycle

The full-flow staged combustion cycle is named for the flow of the propellants through the preburners. Both the fuel and the oxidizer are totally routed through a preburner and a turbine. This means that the cycle design features both a fuel-rich preburner and an oxidizer-rich preburner.

Almost all of the oxidizer is run through the oxidizer-rich preburner and turbine, with a minimal amount to oxidizer being sent through the fuel-rich preburner. In parallel, almost all of the fuel is run through the fuel-rich preburner and turbine, with a minimal amount of fuel being sent through the oxidizer-rich preburner.

This means that both propellants end up arriving at the combustion chamber already fully in gaseous form. This is a huge advantage over other cycles discussed earlier. A gas-gas interaction is extremely efficient, leads to improved mixing of gas products prior to combustion, leading to faster combustion with less unburnt residuals than liquid-liquid or liquid-gas interactions.

its a fairly new technique and having the pros of both the cycles it also has cons of the both cycles over the problems it has on its own, therefore very few organizations have attempted to manufacture it

There is no best engine, all of the have them have their own pros which help to solve various problems. Looking back its crazy to think that this all made on the basis a one simple principle. Humans kept pushing the boundaries of imagination and science to keep reaching new levels, progressing and making our place among the stars.

Today, we'll talk about a very interesting concept that all teenagers are talking about - Are we in a computer simulation? Does life matter? Is the simulation theory true?

But what is the simulation theory?

Many believe that our existence is due to a highly advanced computer simulation created by an even more advanced civilization in the future. It's a fascinating idea that has been explored in science fiction for decades.

It makes sense, right? It's not even been a century since computers came around, and only about 50 years since computing was a common thing. Yet, humans have been able to create life-like simulations in games and engines that can mimic our physical world and artificial intelligence that challenges humans in various tasks. With the advances in technology and AI, it's not hard to imagine that we could create a simulation that is indistinguishable from reality.

Let's say, we have 1,000 years of computing, surely by then we'll be able to create a life-like simulation. Maybe on quantum computers?
And what happens if the humans of the simulation of our reality we create, create one more simulation inside of it? Which means that we could also be a simulation.

But wait! It means that there can be infinite simulations inside simulations, which would mean that there's a 1/∞ chance that we are real. Which means there's a 100% chance that we are in a simulation??

I mean, that's what Elon Musk also thinks, he has to be right, right? And if we are in a simulation, does anything even matter?

The catch.

Think of this reality as a Minecraft server - where the entire universe is built with "blocks" (Atoms). But wait, Minecraft has a world limit.

Can computers simulate each and every atom of our world? And can they simulate what goes on inside them?

Scientists at University of Oxford found that simulating quantum phenomena in metals (which btw is a super complex task) needs mind-bogglingly complex simulations. The more particles you throw in, the more computing power you need. It's like trying to build an infinite Minecraft world that never ends, or trying to solve a puzzle where the pieces multiply like crazy every time you add more! It gets trickier and trickier. With traditional computers, that's simply impossible.

So, as much as it's fun to contemplate simulations within simulations, fully simulating our reality down to the tiniest atoms is a massive long shot. The sheer computational power required is beyond what we can even imagine right now.

What if even that's planted by our parent simulation to make us believe that we aren't in a simulation?
What if we are just not advanced enough to be able to imagine how much computation we can get to? I'm sure that humans didn't think they would be here, 100 years ago when computers were invented.

Well, we have yet to find out. But...

Does it matter?

But hey, here's the thing: whether we're in a simulation or not, our experiences and connections are real to us. The choices we make and the impact we have on the world matter, no matter what's going on behind the scenes.

So, keep questioning, keep exploring, and keep embracing the mysteries of our universe. The simulation or not, this adventure we call life is one heck of a ride.

Ever since spaceflight was a thing, it has been used by governments to assert dominance against other countries, even the moon landing project was done solely for this purpose

But this is changing

.While government agencies like NASA and ISRO are doing all their great things, they are far more boring to the audience, because they are interested in science-based projects like satellites

On the other hand, companies like SpaceX, Rocketlab, Virgin Galactic, and Blue origin have been working on something much bigger- Space tourism.

And its not just a competition on who makes better and safer rockets for billionaires, its a race to push the boundaries of what humanity can do, which will inevitably (albeit slowly) make space available to the common people.

Now lets talk about the rockets. Fun stuff!

First, lets clear out the confusion between ‘space’ and ‘orbit’

Space is just everything beyond the boundary of about 80 kms. Its a lack of atmosphere, but not a lack of gravity. Gravity doesn’t stop by reaching space. At an altitude of 100 km, mass is still being pulled by Earth’s gravity with nearly the same force as at sea level. Specifically, gravity still pulls with 9.4 m/s2 of force, as opposed to the 9.8 m/s2 at sea level

.Both, Blue Origin’s New Shepard and Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo will launch more or less straight up. After about two minutes of acceleration for New Shepard and one minute for SpaceShipTwo, the engines will cut off and both vehicles will coast up, where they will hit their peak altitude or apogee, and then fall back down to Earth. At the moment the engines cut off, passengers will begin to feel weightless. Passengers will feel weightless until the spacecrafts begin to hit the atmosphere again and start to experience aerodynamic drag

.At apogee, these vehicles have virtually zero horizontal velocity. They are practically completely stationary for a brief moment in time. If they now were to try and stay in space by getting into orbit, they would need to be traveling at orbital velocities, roughly 28,000 kmh sideways, which is about 8 times faster than their peak velocity during ascent. Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo

Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic is a suborbital tourism launch company that is not to be confused with Virgin Orbit. Virgin Orbit is a small satellite rocket company, which launches their LauncherOne rocket from a Boeing 747 called Cosmic Girl. At one point they both were part of Virgin Galactic, but are now separate entities. Virgin Galactic currently has one system composed of SpaceShipTwo and its carrier plane, WhiteKnightTwo.

There’s also a newer production-ready version called SpaceShip III (formerly SpaceShipThree). It is virtually the same spaceplane as SpaceShipTwo, but hasn’t flown by the time this article has been published.

The overall shape and design of Virgin Galactic’s spaceplanes is super unique, featuring pneumatically tilted tails and horizontal stabilizers. The twin tails of the rocket plane have a so-called carefree re-entry profile, which takes inspiration from a badminton shuttlecock. This carefree re-entry profile is a passively stable design that provides a large amount of drag and makes the vehicle want to re-enter belly down every time, even in the case of it re-entering upside down

.The most interesting part about these vehicles is that humans are 100% in control of them. There is no autopilot and no fly-by-wire. The pair of pilots control the vehicle directly through electronically controlled trim at supersonic speeds, and cable and rod linkages at subsonic speeds. To control the orientation of the spaceplane in space, they have 12 cold gas thrusters. Cold gas thrusters use compressed air and are a very simple and effective way of controlling the attitude of a vehicle when there is no atmosphere present. They can control pitch, yaw and roll, with a total of 6 pairs of thrusters for redundancy.

Customer Experience

Virgin Galactic pays close attention to detail inside the vehicle and ensures the customer the best possible experience by including 16 cameras. Customers will not have to fiddle around their cameras, helping them to live in the moment and focus on the experience. There are seatback displays to help staying up to date with every phase of the flight. The seats are also dynamic and change their angle to maximize comfort and safety during the different portions of the flight. Furthermore, the seats also feature self retracting seat belts to help passengers getting out of their seats quickly during weightlessness. There are 17 windows spread across the whole spaceplane with halo edges so passengers can easily get a hold on them. . . . . . But chances are, you are not a billionaire (Like us) what a bummer, does it mean we probably wont go to space? NO. Virgin galactic is currently offering lottery tickets to space. Yes, you heard that righ

tConclusionSpace has given us all the chance to dream: Of beauty and wonder. Of great adventures. Of being part of something bigger than ourselves. And now… with space tourism slowly becoming a thing, We will get to experience that beauty. To be one of the only people to view earth from space, live. Experience 0-gs. These are inspiring times, and with the moon and mars landing coming in this generation, this is an essential step there.

We have returned after a long time....
(sorry for that)

Starship is the rocket that gets me excited about our future, and space in general. However, it has never really demonstrated its feats. But, it could happen as soon as tomorrow- the 15 km hop is very close.

Even though we have’nt been blogging recently, we are following the space industry very closely and one thing is for sure- no matter how successful or unsuccessful the hop goes, it will be spectacular.

well, if you dont know how big the starship is , here is a size comparison

What is this 15 km hop about?

Welllllll, just see the tweets.

This will be the first time when a life size starship lifts off (unlike SN5 and SN6, which were basically just steel cans flying in air). The body Flaps are the main things to test during this flight- SN8 will go to about 15 kms, then it will “skydive” and navigate its way to the landing pad

.But here’s the thing that’s truly going to be absolutely insane to see. Starship will still need to land using its sea level raptor engines. If you recall, those engines are on the bottom of the rocket. At this moment they are facing sideways, completely horizontal.

and this is where the most dangerous part comes in- the landing.

Starship has large flaps that i like to call ELONERONS

.The “belly-flop” maneuver

So what is the solution to this situation? A wild, daring, and potentially hard to nail down “belly-flop to tail-down” maneuver. This is something that I’ve found to be just bonkers since the day we first saw it.
This maneuver will make the Falcon 9 landing look like a walk in the park in comparison. It’s a maneuver that would make the best stunt pilots poop their pants.

The first attempts at this will look a little different than the eventual system. This is because the cold gas thrusters on early prototypes aren’t very powerful. As a result they can’t aid too much in the flip maneuver. Eventually, when they are replaced by the hot gas thrusters on later vehicles, this maneuver will look different.

For the initial prototype landings, the rear elonerons will tuck in to aid in the rotation. At the same time the 3 Raptors will light up while going horizontally. However they’ll be at maximum gimbal angle, pitching the rocket’s nose up as quickly as they can.

Of course in doing so, it’s going to inject a large amount of horizontal velocity during this process. So, in order to negate that and land on target, it will need to over correct. This means swinging back over to the other side. In doing so, it will cancel out the horizontal velocity before straightening out and touching down softly.

I FULLY expect to see a crater in the test stand , because this has never been done before. Even Elon says that there is a 1/3rd chance of successful landing. either way, it will be incredible to watch a 10 story large building flip in the air and land perfectly (or crash in the dirt.)

Conclusion

Starship is simply a massively ambitious proposition. But there are few physical barriers which would make it impossible, other than it’s never been done. And just as with anything that has never been done before, the unknowns are unknown.

This huge thing is going to go airborne tomorrow- and this could be humanity,s biggest spaceflight achievement this year. you can watch it streamed by Everyday Astronaut HERE:

I fully expect Starship to have some stumbling blocks along the way and some valuable lessons will be learned too. There’ll likely be many more explosions along the path to orbit, and even once in operation. Remember the Falcon 9 history has not always been smooth sailing either.

Nothing is when you’re pushing the boundaries. But now the Falcon 9 is one of the most reliable and most flown rockets. What used to be an experimental landing is now expected and almost mundane.

After all, Elon has said in the past he hopes these landings become so routine, that they become boring. Although I’m personally not quite to that point yet, it is getting close.

Starship might have a rocky start. There are many people who critique it and say that it will never work. Those same critics have been around the whole time constantly saying SpaceX won’t be able to do something. Then they get proven wrong over and over and over.

.“Water” has since been detected inside the minerals in lunar rocks. Water ice has also been discovered to be mixed in with lunar dust grains in cold, permanently shadowed regions near the lunar poles.

But scientists haven’t been sure how much of this water is present as “molecular water” – made up of two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen (H2O). Now two new studies published in Nature Astronomy provide an answer, while also giving an idea of how and where to extract it.

Water and more water

The term water isn’t just used for molecular water, but also also for detections of hydrogen (H) and hydroxyl (OH). Although H and OH could be combined by astronauts to form molecular water at the lunar surface, it is important to know in what form these compounds are present initially. That’s because this will have an impact on their stability and location under lunar surface conditions, and the effort required to extract them. Molecular water, if present as water ice, would be easier to extract than hydroxyl locked in rocks.

The presence of water on the Moon is scientifically interesting; its distribution and form can help address some profound questions. For example, how did water and other volatile substances arrive at the inner Solar System in the first place? Was it produced there or brought there by asteroids or meteorites? Knowing more about the specific compound could help us find out

Understanding how much water is present, and its location, is also incredibly useful for planning human missions to the Moon and beyond. Water represents a key resource that can be used for life-support purposes – but it can also be split apart into its constituent elements and put to other uses. Oxygen could replenish air supplies, or be used in simple chemical reactions at the lunar surface to extract other useful resources from the regolith (soil composed of small grains). Water could also be used as rocket fuel in the form of liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen.

This means that the Moon has great potential to become a refueling base for space missions further into the Solar System or beyond. Its lower gravity and lack of atmosphere means it would require less fuel to launch from there than from Earth. So when space agencies talk of in-situ resource utilization at the Moon, water is front and centre of their plans, making the new papers extremely exciting.

Nevertheless, these latest discoveries further enhance our understanding of the history of water on our nearest neighbor. They will undoubtedly strengthen plans for a return to the Moon. Instruments such as the European Space Agency’s (PROSPECT payload on Luna 27) will be able to make measurements on the Moon to “ground-truth” these tantalizing glimpses of the wealth of information yet to be discovered.

Forget water on the moon, NASA has now struck gold

.NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope has discovered a rare, heavy and immensely valuable asteroid called “16 Psyche” in the Solar System’s main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

Asteroid Psyche is located at roughly 230 million miles (370 million kilometres) from Earth and measures 14 miles (226 kilometers) across, about the size of West Virginia. What makes it special is that, unlike most asteroids that are either rocky or icy, Psyche is made almost entirely of metals, just like the core of Earth, according to a study published in the Planetary Science Journal on Monday

.“We’ve seen meteorites that are mostly metal, but Psyche could be unique in that it might be an asteroid that is totally made of iron and nickel,” said Tracy Becker, one of the study’s authors and a planetary scientist at the Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, Texas.

Given the asteroid’s size, its metal content could be worth $10,000 quadrillion ($10,000,000,000,000,000,000), or about 10,000 times the global economy as of 2019.

Using ultraviolet spectrum data collected by the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph on the Hubble Space Telescope during two observations in 2017, researchers deduced that Psyche’s surface could be mostly pure iron. However, they recognized that the presence of an iron composition of as small as 10 percent could dominate ultraviolet observations.

Psyche is the target of the NASA Discovery Mission Psyche, expected to launch in 2022 atop a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket. Further facts about the asteroid, including its exact metal content, will hopefully be uncovered when an orbiting probe arrives in early 2026

.“16 Psyche is the only known object of its kind in the Solar System, and this is the only way humans will ever visit a core. We learn about inner space by visiting outer space,” Lindy Elkins-Tanton, the lead scientist on the NASA mission and the director of Arizona State University’s School of Earth and Space Exploration, said in a statement announcing the mission in January 2017.

The asteroid is believed to be the dead core left by a planet that failed during its formation early in the Solar System’s life or the result of many violent collisions in its distant past.

Short of it being the Death Star… one other possibility is that it’s material that formed very near the Sun early in the Solar System,” Elkins-Tanton told Forbes in an interview in May, 2017 interview. “I figure we’re either going to go see something that’s really improbable and unique, or something that is completely astonishing.”

Skyroot Aerospace Private Limited is an Indian private aerospace manufacturer and commercial launch service provider located in Hyderabad, Telangana.

The Company was founded by former engineers and scientists from ISRO, DRDO and various aerospace companies and aims to develop and launch its own series of Vikram series of small lift launch vehicles

They have designed the rocked named “Vikram”.

Vikram, named after Dr Vikram Sarabhai, the father of Indian Space Program, is a series of launch vehicles especially crafted for the small satellite market.

Built on a common architecture and covering a wide range of payloads, they offer the most affordable and on-demand ride to space.

This will be in direct competition with New Zealand’s Rocket Lab, which is also targetting the small satellite marke

Highly reliable solid propulsion stages with proven design heritage.
Miniaturized and Modern Avionics.
Ultra-Lowshock Pneumatic separation.
(Even we don’t understand these, but this sounds cool.)

The Vikram II and Vikram III are modifications to the Vikram I- Just bigger and with higher and higher payload capacities, but the advanced Cryogenic Methalox engine replaces the third stage of Vikram 1.

The Vikram III also has additional low cost Strapped on Solid Rocket Boosters
(WE LOVE ROCKETS WITH SOLID ROCKET BOOSTERS!!! )

The Engine

Skyroot is using a unique way to make their engine - 3D printing.

The Dhawan-1 rocket engine was aptly unveiled on the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of Dr. Satish Dhawan.

According to a statement released by the Startup, it said that the engine has been named after the celebrated scientist and mathematician to honour and respect his critical role in the development of the Indian space sector and taking ISRO to new heights of success during his term as the ISRO Chairman in 1972

.Skyroot Aerospace also mentioned that the Dhawan-1 rocket engine in a completely 3D printed cryogenic engine and proudly revealed that it is 100% “Made in India” product.

They will use LNG as fuel. Liquid Natural gas (LNG) is a clean-burning, low-cost, highly-reusable, and safe cryogenic fuel, which is also ideal for long-duration deep space missions carrying satellites or human, so we think its a good choice....

Achievements

Skyroot has also nailed some achievements -

We can confirm that they have a great website (better than the ISRO website)

This was a demonstration that - a private company CAN launch a rocket as powerful as the falcon heavy,

Falcon Heavy is the most powerful operational rocket in the world by a factor of two. With the ability to lift into orbit nearly 64 metric tons (141,000 lb) Falcon Heavy can lift more than twice the payload of the next closest operational vehicle, the Delta IV Heavy

.It is incredibly powerful. Falcon Heavy is composed of three Falcon 9 nine-engine cores generating more than 5 million pounds of thrust at liftoff, equal to approximately eighteen 747 aircraft

.And what do you do with a powerful rocket? Ah, you launch your favourite car in space along with a dummy human, sitting comfortably with his one hand on the rims of the delicate, cherry red Tesla roadster, patiently listening to Life on Mars by Davie Bowie, for two years now.

SpaceX made a fairly simple demonstration mission into something very exciting by adding a little spice to it Yup. There is a literal car in space right now, breezing along the interplanetary roads(because it is a car, you know), doing its thing.

Elon Musk’s Tesla Roadster is an electric sports car that served as the dummy payload for the February 2018 Falcon Heavy test flight and became an artificial satellite of the Sun. “Starman”, a mannequin dressed in a spacesuit, occupies the driver’s seat. The car and rocket are products of Tesla and SpaceX, respectively, both companies headed by Elon Musk. Doesn’t it just blow your mind? I mean, which company will launch a literal CAR ?????!!!! OK, back to the topic. “Starman, last seen leaving Earth, made its first close approach with Mars today — within 0.05 astronomical units, or under 5 million miles, of the Red Planet,” SpaceX announced via Twitter Wednesday (Oct. 7).

SpaceX even documented it in full grace-As shown in this video.

Starman and his space Tesla have sent their last selfie from Earth orbit, Elon Musk announced. Elon Musk posted the “last pic” of Starman and on Instagram, though it’s such a nice frame that one suspects it’s probably the best of its last final minutes. ..

The mission, however, was anything but frivolous. Musk’s goal for Starman was to demonstrate capabilities of the Falcon Heavy rocket on its maiden launch and to prove the Hawthorne-based company could propel something into space capable of reaching Mars.

This hints us that we might at some time in the near future do not need a rocket to complete a whole journey to another planet. Cars can be modified into spaceships. The rocket will just leave the car outside earth’s gravitational force and from there with you and your driving skills, can carry any no of people. it can be so easy, it will feel like as flying an aeroplane. Once a base is set up on any planet, just think about it, you can go to other planets anytime. We can go on a vacation, science trip, the possibilities are endless. And this all is made possible by a small step, roadster in space.

?The Kardashev Scale

An astronomer named Nikolai Kardashev proposed a scale to quantify an evolving civilization’s increasing energy needs. This is called the Kardashev scale. We humans are just on stage 1 of the Kardashev- which means that we have not yet harnessed the full energy of our own earth !!! The second stage is when we harness all the energy of the entire solar system- from the Storms of Jupiter to the mountains of mars- even the entire solar energy of our sun needs to be harnessed! So, it is incredibly difficult to think of an energy source for a stage 3 civilisations- expansion on a galactic scale would require about 100 billion times more energy than the full 385 Yotta joules our sun releases every second. Barring a breakthrough in exotic physics, there’s only one energy source that could suffice: a supermassive black hole.

Dyson Sphere

The key to harnessing this power may lie in a structure devised by physicist Freeman Dyson, known as the Dyson sphere. In the 1960s, Dyson proposed that an advanced planetary civilization could engineer an artificial sphere around their main star, capturing all of its radiated energy to satisfy their needs. A similar, though the vastly more complicated design, could theoretically be applied to black holes

.Since black holes need to be fed continuously, a Dyson Sphere won’t work, because the sphere would fully cover it- and would inevitably collapse n the immense gravity Even if we did, the plasma jets that shoot from the poles of many supermassive black holes would blow any structure in their way to smithereens. So instead, we might design a sort of Dyson ring, made of massive, remotely controlled collectors

.What we will need

We would likely need several Earths worth of highly reflective material like hematite to construct the full system— plus a few more dismantled planets to make a legion of construction robots. Once built, the Dyson ring would be a technological masterpiece, powering a civilization spread across every arm of a galaxy. This all may seem like wild speculation. But even now, in our current energy crisis, we’re confronted by the limited resources of our planet. New ways of sustainable energy production will always be needed, especially as humanity works towards the survival and technological progress of our species. Perhaps there’s already a civilization out there that has conquered these astronomical giants. We may even be able to tell by seeing the light from their black hole periodically dim as pieces of the Dyson ring pass between us and them. Or maybe these superstructures are fated to remain in the realm of theory. Only time— and our scientific ingenuity— will tell

.Conclusion

The curiosity and the need for answers is the nature of humanity. Humanity will always find a way to survive and progress. It would never stop till it as reached te eight or beyond Galactic civilization is a tremendous step, if humanity achieves it we could have, by that time be living and thriving with many other beings. We don’t know, there might be supergiant god-like species who ave already conquered the galaxy and might capture and exhaust the resources of our galaxy. We don’t know We ave just begin “the beginning of the new era of the conquer of space”

Turns out, the Apollo missions are full of critical hacks that save the day, or the mission and sometimes, the crew. Apolo 11 had a moment where the crew discovered a circuit breaker cap on the floor of the lunar module after they did their surface EVA. Buzz Aldrin thinks that he probably hit it with the backpack of his EVA suit and he broke off the circuit breaker, which had been popped out after landing, now, that might not sound bad,i mean there was a lot of circuit breakers but this one, in particular, was very much a circuit they needed to unbreak. This one controlled power to the ascent engine, which was needed for leaving the moon and getting back into orbit. So without being able to close that breaker, they would have had a hard time lighting the engine and returning, and they were pretty much stuck on the moon. But after a bit of thinking buzz aldrin figured out how to close the breaker using a pen, it was a mundane plastic felt pen which saved the day. This pen was on display along with the broken circuit breaker at the museum of flight

.2. Apollo 13 Adapter hack

On Apollo 13, the astronauts had to figure out how to put a square peg into a round hole when the lunar module carbon dioxide scrubbers needed to be replaced and the square lithium hydroxide canisters from the command module were incompatible (owing them to be the wrong shape) So, in flight, they had to build an adapter using only the stuff that they had on board the spacecraft (which was obviously stripped down for its journey to the moon) they have a plastic bag, a piece of stiff cardboard, a lot of grey tape (which we call duct tape) and a space suit ventilation hose and they built this together , duct taping the square peg to the hose, supporting it with the cardboard to just barely make their way back to earth

.3. The Space Station “hole” found using tea leaves

So this one is a lot more recent. After months of searching, the crew on the international space station have finally located an elusive air leak in the Zvezda service module and supposedly the crew used an interesting technique for locating this tiny crack, which involved the innovative use of tea leaves, releasing them into the air, and watching where they eventually collected. They did have things like ultrasonic leak detectors and other high-tech hardware on board but sometimes you just have to hack together towards a solution or as some people say “macgyver the heck out of things” and space flight is full of stories like this.

Conclusion

Without these hacks and the quick thinking of the crew, there could have been many problems, so, what do we learn from this? Well,

That a small tea leave could save a 20 BILLION dollar space station, if only you have the brains for it.

After all, the martian is a great movie and a great book where the entire story is pretty much mark Watney hacking together solutions for problems using the things that aren’t well suited to the task and lots of disco music as well but anyway,

While we keep writing blogs for today and tomorrow, we decided- why not make one..... about the future?! And so, we are starting a weekly series about human evolution - in every sense, not only biological but also technological.

Introduction to The Future of Humans...

And are we “intelligent enough” as a race, to understand it?

In one sense, The future of humanity comprises everything that will ever happen to any human being, including what you will have for breakfast next Thursday and all the scientific discoveries that will be made next year. In that sense, it is hardly reasonable to think of the future of humanity as a topic: it is too big and too diverse to be addressed as a whole in a single essay, article, or even 100-volume book series.

It is made into a topic by way of abstraction. We abstract from details and short-term fluctuations and developments that affect only some limited aspect of our lives. A discussion about the future of humanity is about how the important fundamental features of the human condition may change or remain constant in the long run.

What features of the human condition are fundamental and important? On this, there can be reasonable disagreement. Nonetheless, some features qualify by almost any standard. For example, whether and when Earth-originating life will go extinct, whether it will colonize the galaxy, whether human biology will be fundamentally transformed to make us posthuman, whether machine intelligence will surpass biological intelligence, whether population size will explode, and whether the quality of life will radically improve or deteriorate There are a lot if question but, as I said doubts of the human race and its evolution is vast. the human race is the far most superior race and cant be comprehended by the human mind itself. the complexities and the mystery of the evolution have made the human mind attracted towards it, but failing to understand in many aspects

This blog will be different, not based on conspiracies but predictions based on true facts of human evolution filled with mysteries that are unknown to the mind

It is our belief that brainstorming about the future leads to discoveries- like the time when people imagined of automatically opening doors in the movie Star Trek being a reality, and guess what !!! It is a reality now.

We will discuss inventions, discoveries and facts which are related to human future

Evolution can be good or bad and the fear of the surroundings, making the body adapt to the surroundings and habitat forms the roots of evolution, just as it did 20,000 years ago- and now, it can’t be turned back
